Learning Objectives

To acquire an understanding of:

Students are able to apply principles
from the Five Domains to the management of a skilled nursing facility

Students will have the proficiency to
sit for the Nursing Home Administrator Licensure Exam (if all other New York
State Department of Health requirements are met – see instructor to review such
requirements

This course will define the responsibilities of a nursing
home administrator. It will focus on the
five domains that are required of the licensed nursing home administrator as
well as other as other critical issues that the nursing home administrator
handles. This course can help prepare the student for the NAB Exam for
Licensure as a Nursing Home Administrators; this exam is required by NYS (for
more information about becoming a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, please
speak with me as well as review the requirements, which are posted on the NYS
Department of Health Website).

This course reviews materials covered
in other HSA/HEA courses that meet Qualifications required by the Board of
Examiners – Nursing Home Administrators for NYS. As a result the course applies previous
learning to the unique nursing home environment and the administrator’s
responsibility. This course also
introduces students to new material specifically related to the nursing home
environment. Additionally, the course
includes innovations in nursing homes (The Culture Change Movement) and
reimbursement (Value Based Payments, Managed Long Term Care)
