(ARIEL) There are a lot of people that say media’s role during the Vietnam War was a huge reason why the U.S was defeated. It was argued that the media’s tendency toward reporting the negative was the reason why the support for the war in the United States was undermined. In 1950s, it was reported only 9% of the American population owned a television in their home. While that number shot up dramatically in 1961 when there was no 93% of people who owned a television. There was a survey conducted in 1954, that showed 58% of people stated they got most of their news from watching TV. Which is why television became the most popular source of news for the American people during the Vietnam era. This affected popular culture because more and more people were buying TVs so they could watch the news and that shows that were on the air at that time. As you look at today’s culture there is at least one TV in everyone’s home. There are more shows than ever on plus we are still watching the news if we are not getting it from social media sites.

(ariel) In the 70’s the people distrusted the government and even the President at the time Nixon. There were a lot of protest, and sit-ins by the people. It seemed like the people were in charge and the government was afraid of them. Now it is a totally different story the government is big, bloated, money hungry and thoroughly corrupt. Even if people protest it is like nothing ever gets done besides riots and destruction among the people. Now a days it seems people in America have no morals or values regarding anything. The 1970s was all about peace and equality but in today’s world that is all we want for America. You can just look at the current political situation there are so many lies and riots, people trying to hurt others because either you do or don’t like the president. There is so much hate going on in the world, horrible things be said about people in power. History can teach us that things have changed but in other aspects things have stayed the some. I know 1970s they were trying to have more peace yes it did get better but i think in today’s culture is has gotten way worse.
