There are many reasons why it is important to understanding the health care system when planning an EBP implementation. First, it is important to know the population for which the EBP will be implemented at. This will allow for a good understanding of the demographic data for the health care system and allow for a larger sample. Second, the topic of the EBP could be used in other areas of the health care system and if the system at the local level is not considered this could get missed. The goal of EBP is the integration of clinical expert opinion, external scientific evidence, and patient perspectives to provide high-quality services reflecting the interests, values, needs, and choices of the individuals we serve.
