A personal strength for in professional presentations is my communication skills. I am great at verbal and nonverbal communication. I listen well and may slip at times with my husband, I do not react to situations. I enjoy learning about topics I am passionate about and love presenting in a way that gets people excited about what I am sharing. Presentations should have verbal, tactile and visual elements to grasp the entire room. If the presentation is on paper, it should be pleasing to the eye and maybe interactive to keep the reader’s attention until the end. Molly St. Louis from Inc.com states that 9 times out of 10, people do not grasp an idea but it’s not because their ideas are bad, it’s because they don’t know how to communicate them effectively.

A personal weakness of mine is length. Length of discussion and length of written material. I like to reiterate points, rather than making a good point once and leaving it. I enjoy interaction of points, so I may end up repeating topics rather than hitting them home once and most times during this program my papers may ended up over the word limit, rather than succinct and to the point. Inc.com, Molly St. Louis, also gave me an improvement point on this weakness that is easy to remember and has stuck with me already. Create a presentation like a PowerPoint. One slide, a few lines, large print, make the point once and make it strong. Both skills are important for me to take this change proposal to work and utilize it. I want to make a clear and strong point about attaining zero CLABSI’s, enough said.
