Diana,

Evidence based health practices are often available for a variouscondition like asthma, heart failure, and diabetes. The practices are not always implemented in any care delivery. It is a problemsolving approach which incorporates the careful use of up to date, quality data in decisions regarding care of patients(Vaidya et al., 2017).

Financial aspect

Evidence based practice is an approach which involves many stages that require thorough check and finances tofunction well. A financial manager makes a detailed budget of how the method will work. Everything should be planned within the budget madeby the financial manager. Every step is taken keenly for the practice to function well. Public authorities and professional organizations have tried to promote evidence-based practice to provide standard health services not leaving out national and international organizations (Melnyk et al., 2017).

Since my project is on staffs or nurse turnover in nursing home or a long term care facility, the finances of the evidence-based practice will be very high. A lot of money is needed to set up a facility which is conducive for the patients and nurses who use the area. The finances may come from donors, well-wishers, investors and the government. Also, the place will be a nursing home for those patients with diabetes especially type two diabetes. It will provide kits for the patients to measure their blood glucose level even at the comforts of their homes. Nurse turnover is an undesirable trend for healthcare employers since it is expensive, disruptive and threatens the quality of care and patients safety (Vaidya et al., 2017). The nurses who are not performing well are assessed and released, and new ones who act are hired. It also requires the nurses’ satisfaction with the salary paid and the environment they work in. Finances for the nurses payroll and finances for hiring them are provided too(Vaidya et al., 2017).

Quality aspect

Evidence-based practice project requires a high percentage of quality for it to perform correctly. It is consideredas a one quality point of developing the practice. Every step should be designed correctly to avoid nonqualitypractice. Nurse turnover is one problem that can threaten the quality of care and patient safety in the facility. It should be taken care of since it is a sensitive matter (Melnyk et al., 2017). The quality of the nursing facility depends on the services the patients receive since t is the main agenda of the program. The practice should work to improve the quality of the nursing care facility every time forthe patients to receive high standard services with high quality.

Clinical aspect

My project on staffs or nurse turnover in nursing home or long term care facility, clinical matters, and care will be handled with a lot of keenness. The patients will be taken care of in a rightway and ensured proper services for them. The facility will be clean every time to avoid infections and diseases, have medical equipment that will help in testing and treat patients. They will be there to prevent issues of patients coming to the facility and don’t receive any medication. It will directly have an impact onthe practice because providing evidence before diagnosis, and the patients will be treated well (Melnyk et al., 2017).

Lance,

One financial aspect to my proposal will be the initial startup costs of purchasing iPads, wireless headphones, books and other materials. My plan is to ask management for funds for the project, my mentor says it will likely be approved if under five hundred dollars. I will start small and if the proposal appears to be effective, I will advocate for more funds. The ongoing costs include monthly plans for the apps we will be using on the iPads. The training will be given to every staff member through an email PowerPoint so there should be no financial impact with training. One quality aspect my mentor mentioned was continual evaluation from staff and patients on the effectiveness and ease of use from my proposal. It’s important to assess quality of the proposal is maintained and staff are finding the EBP improving patient outcomes, while not creating a more difficult work environment. One clinical aspect of my proposal will be to create a standardized checklist and policy for the hospital for staff to reference when implementing my proposal. It’s important staff have the resources to ensure correct application and know where to find help.

Margot,

The focus of my EBP practice project is developing and expanding the use of skin-to-skin contact (SSC) in the L&D unit I work in immediately following delivery to enhance and promote breastfeeding and newborn/parental bonding. After discussions with my mentor and overall clinical experience utilizing this intervention, some different aspects would be considered. The financial impact that this proposal could have to potentially impact the patient and newborn’s family would be very positive overall. Breastmilk is considered the ultimate “convienience” food, always available and at the right temperature, for example. Breastfed infants are generally healthier than their formula-fed counterparts, so that itself is a financial advantage as well. The main expenses would be the purchase/rental of a hospital-grade breast pump by the patient when discharged which is not always covered by insurance and purchasing quality, wholesome food for the mother’s diet. Depending on the patient’s economic status and geographical location, these issues can be a challenge. Otherwise, there’s no added expense for the hospital itself. The quality aspect would be consistency in applying the protcol by individual clinicians and monitoring it’s effectiveness, but with time this should improve. The clinical aspect is in agreeing on a implementation strategy and coordinating staff education as necessary on its impact. While discussing/researching this proposal with my mentor and co-workers, I discovered that our unit already has illustrated hand-outs on SSC in English and Spanish in the mother/baby “admission packet”. I now anticipate being able to use these hand-outs (or a slight modification of them) in the labor/delivery rooms by laminating them and posting them on the bathroom doors, etc. Of course, verbal teaching is still necessary for patient education, especially for our illiterate patients.
