Theoretical Framework & Methods All empirical work is supported by a theory. Students must align a theory (theories) to their research and clearly articulate how and why the research question is supported by the selected theory(ies). A brief description of the theory (and author) should be discussed prior to infusing the theory into the research question(s). While, multiple theories may be utilized, there must be one overarching theory to support the student’s premise. Note: the selected theory may come from a different discipline than political science.
