A description of all Discussion topics can be found under each of the units in the course.

Discussion Participation: Discussion topics provide a forum for students to answer important questions about the course material. The Discussion topics also allow students to asynchronously interact with their instructor and other students in the class. Additionally, students have the opportunity to ask their classmates and instructor questions about the course material as well as share experiences that contribute to the learning objectives.

Grading Criteria	Possible Points
Demonstrates an understanding of course materials by explaining the concepts discussed in the Reading in your own words. The initial post should be no less than 200 words.	10
Supports claims with references from the Reading and personal experience.	8
Grammar, spelling, and punctuation reflect college-level writing.	4
Provides comments to a minimum of two other student postings per Discussion post per week. Comments reflect on the posting, adding to the Discussion, and consist of more than the simple â€œnice postâ€ or â€œI agree.â€ Follow-up posts to peers should be at least 50 words in length and must help to engage the class and further discussion.	8
