Federal government agencies like the Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco, firearm, and explosives will hire fire investigators to determine the causes of explosions. Fire investigators also work for state agencies such as the state police (arson investigators) or the state fire marshal. Becoming a fire investigator is no easy feat, however, I already have on-the-job experience from responding to fire emergencies. Seeing the aftermath on previous fire scenes has educated me on what to inspect for when determining the origin of a fire. Having an aggressive work ethic will keep me disciplined with my goal of becoming a fire investigator. Having read into the statistics of employment on a fire inspector, I can say that it will be a challenging.
