IT133: Microsoft Office Applications on Demand

CLASSMATE POST #1

I am currently using a dell hp laptop the ones issued to the government that’s kind with the tough box exterior on it. I forget what the shock proof casing is called! But the main frustration I have is that I’m overseas and I am on what they call the NIPR network and I cant access a lot of things like the modules for this course so I have to wait to I’m off shift to do classwork for this course. The network is very slow and also whenever things happen they can shut off usage and also so wifi and I wont be able to use even my personal laptop as well! So thars my biggest complaint its slow and not knowing when I will or wont be able to access classes. I’m currently overseas as a DOD contractor so school isn’t also beneficial but also a great way to kill time so when the internet is down its horrible.

My current system is custom built Desktop. It features a core I7 6850k @ 4.2Ghz, Nvidia Geforce 1080ti, 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4 memory, and 2 500Gb Samsung 950 Evo SSDs. While the system was originally built for gaming, due to the specs the system can also be used for heavy video editing and CAD applications. The current installed OS is Windows 10 educational 64-bit. Aside from the OS, there is little additional software installed with the exception of networking and performance monitoring software. Well, the list of frustrations can be quite long. As this system contains a custom water cooling loop, constant maintenance is required. The system is also overclocked, simply meaning the processor frequency is set higher than stock settings. While the overclock is stable, dialing it in just right takes time, and when an instability occurs the result is typically the dreaded windows blue screen of death. Aside from that, the most common frustration with any Windows system has to be Microsoft updates.

IT190: Information Technology Concepts

CLASSMATE POST #3

I researched 2 (two) different job choices that require a degree in information Technology. One of those jobs is as an IT Consultant. Someone employed in the field would do several tasks including analyzing software systems, give solutions for companies that need to develop or improve their communication systems as well. They can also provide training for employees to ensure they know how to use the updated or new system. They make about $85,000 a year. There a several qualifications for an IT consultant, including but not limited to a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and several years of experience just to name a few. A IT consultant requires as stated above at least one bachelor’s degree in at least one subject related to computers for example Information Technology. A IT consultant does not require certification. Several years of experience in preferred including internships. The field of IT consultants is growing 21% within 2014-2024.

The second job choice I researched is a Computer Software engineer. Someone in the field of computer software engineer will include designing and implementing system security as well as customizing a system to meet the needs of a client. As well as creating, testing, and evaluating applications, databases, and computer games. They make around $84,000 a year. The qualifications for a computer software engineer is to achieve a degree in either computer software engineer or a related degree in computer science or math. Software engineers are required as stated above to obtain bachelor’s degree in either mathematics, computer software engineer or undergraduate programs including computer fundamentals, principles of programming languages, or computer architecture. As well as higher education over time including many certifications including but not limited to Oracle Certified Associate (OCA): Java SE Programmer, CIW Web Foundations Associate, CIW Web and Mobile Design Professional. while in the field and attending internships during college years to obtain the experience required. Since the demand for computer software engineers are in high demands the field is always growing with a growth of 22% since 2014.

I do not have a preference for what company I work for after graduation, nor do it matter what size company I work for. I will work just as hard all the same.

CLASSMATE POST #4

The First Job I chose was Computer and Information Systems Managers. The average salary from 2018 was around $142,000 per year or $68.50 per hour, this amount has increased on average around 1-2% with in the last year! Typically, you need a bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology Field and/or work experience of 5 or more years in a related occupation. When in this field you are manage all the IT in a company, you would also plan, coordinate, and direct computer-related activities within the company or organization you are working for. These are but some of the basic things you might do as a systems manager, other examples might be working with vendor so coming up with plans to implement new technology for the better of the company/organization. Computer and Information System Managers have been growing a huge rate, in the time span from 2016-2026 its projected that the field will grow by 12 percent. This is faster than the average for all occupations and is due to the increasing demand for managers in company’s as they grow and implement more technology into their daily work lives.

The second job I chose was Network and Computer Systems Administrators. in 2018 alone, the average salary for a Network Administrator was $82,050 per year or $39.45 per hour. When working in this field you would need a bachelor’s degree or a post-secondary degree. Network Administrators are a critical part in every company, they manage the network and computer systems for all operations from day-to-day. They are responsible for keeping the systems and network running smoothly while constantly working to correct issues that might arise at any time. The projected growth for Network and Computer System Administrators is around 6% which is average in growth for most IT fields. This field will only continue to grow as having a need for faster and better technology is in constant need, with this you will need more administrators to keep the network stable and constant throughout the company.

The Field I have most interest in would be Computer and Information Systems Manager. I have been working in the field of IT Support Specialist for over 6 years now, and with the constant learning of coordinating with vendors and organizing project upgrades and improvements on the company’s I have worked for. I would eventually like to reach the area of managing the whole IT field in a company one day!
