For this paper, you will conduct original historical research using primary and secondary sources about a topic between the years of 1970 and 2000 (a ripe period for historical investigation). The topic can be about anything you want, but it must have a connection to media. Examples include the Rodney King beating, the rise and fall of Disco, the rise of media conglomeration during the 1980s and 1990s, summer blockbusters prior to and after the release of Jaws, Bill Clinton’s Impeachment Proceedings, the late-night talk show wars, the maturation of the sports industry, etc. I strongly encourage you to find a topic that interests you. It does not have to be United States media. You must cite 3 scholarly sources and 7 periodicals in your final paper (for a total of 10 sources). The paper in its final form should be roughly 6 to 7 pages.
