question 1.Read the case study “McRoy Aerospace” on page 332 and answer questions 4 and 5 on page 333.

question 2.

Anh Pham

What should Mark have done if jack still was not able to resolve the problem?

First of all, I think Mark understand the situation, although the project is very complex, it would be solved by Jack’s best knowledge Mark. Therefore, Mark should encourage Jack by giving him more time to solve the problem, in other words, Mark should not give-up on Jack or given a chance to others.

Secondly, Mark was seen to have a lot of expectations over jack in which he laid a lot of hope that jack would be in a position to come up with an appropriate design for using all doors for the aircraft. Mark choose on Jack as he had laid a lot on him in that he would be in a place to deliver much to the project. It is essential for one to have an alternative person to do the same activity if one is incapacitated and Mark should have done so. In this was Mark should not have relied entirely on Jack for the success of the project, should have kept a back-up instead. Mc Roy Aerospace is a highly profitable venture and in that case the company would be in a position to hire an alternative person who would act as Jacks assistant in running the project. At the end of the project, Jack was able to tackle the challenges well end emerged successful at the end.

5. Would it make sense for Mark to assign this problem to someone else now, after jack could not solve the problem the second time around?

There are two scenarios could happen in this case. First, If the project still has some time to accommodate then, Mark would give another chance to Jack by giving some more time to solve the problem, as Mark said if Jack couldn’t do it, he believed it wasn’t conceivable. On the other hand, if the project has run out of time, then Mark had no other choice; he has to assign someone else to solve the problem as soon as possible.
