First Student

I did explore the CTG web page and it was my first time accessing this page. I found the page informative and I was able to find an interested topic which is “Voter Registration Visualization and Pattern Analysis Demonstration Prototype Project” in all the counties in New York. The project was designed to improve the election system in the state of New York. The main interest about the project is that of the period of time they used to improve the Board’s present utility of its records through the development of visualizations and anomaly exposure demonstration prototypes. I wish all the states in the United states can use this same system for the voters to ensure integrity and transparency of election. I believe every citizen of this country deserves to trust and have confidence in our democratic practice.

Second student

While playing around on the CTG website, I ran across an article titled UAlbany Researchers study how government can be active, well-connected, and needed participants in social media debates. The article talks about how social media is a space for engagement and interactions between all people. It talks about how SM sites, such as Twitter is useful in collecting data but simply creating and monitoring a hashtag. This allows governments officials to be apart of the conversation and change even if they are not the creators of the conversation. I decided to read this article because as a student with an interest in government employment, policy to be exact, I found it important to know and understand the role and impact social media has, especially because I feel that social media is not going anywhere or slowing down any time soon. So government officials should be up to date and savvy with social media and it’s techniques to bring about change and education to society. Reading this articles gives me a jump start understanding on how SM will continue to have a hand in government areas. It allows me to understand firsthand, where and how government will continue to shift.
