You will be writing two essays, but I want you to submit both essays in one attachment. Each essay should include as much vocabulary as possible from your readings. Your essays must reflect college level writing. Opinions should be backed by related terms and concepts from your readings. Be specific- you might have to do some additional research. Each of the two essays have to have at least 500 words. Use your spell and grammar check. Read the essay grading rubric I’ve attached. I will be referring to it as I grade the papers. In addition I’ve attached a list of important vocabulary words taken from the first four chapters of your textbook.

.Essay choice 1: Select two works of art from your book. Tell me where they are in the textbook. Why did you choose these particular pieces? Discuss the ways in which the artists lead your eye to focus on particular areas of the work or to move about within the work. What principles of design does the artist use to accomplish this?. Be specific!

Essay choice 2: Select any work in from the first four chapters of your text. Identify it by artist, title, and medium. Tell me what page it is on. Describe the work for me. Then identify at least 3 of the elements of art that the artist has used. Next identify 3 of the principles of design that are evident in the work. Why did you choose this particular piece?

Essay choice 3: Explain how artists use the elements of size, shape, color, texture, and value to create visual balance. Pick two works- one that is symmetrical and the other, asymmetrical. Be specific.

You must have a title page with your name, date, course title (Introduction to Art) and the name of each of the two essays you are writing about.

Make note of the due date. If I receive them after the due date and time it is marked as one week late. Late assignments are given a one grade deduction for each week that they are late. Assignments more than three weeks late are will not be accepted.

Note: titles of artwork must be in quotations or italics. Points will be deducted if they are not.
