To best understand Texas government, we need to know more about the state of Texas. Texas, the Lone Star State, is the only state to have the flags of 6 different nations fly over it. They are: Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States, and the United States. It was a country from 1836 until 1845 and joined the United States via treaty not annexation. I grew up in Texas, attended public schools and universities and I’m very proud to be a Texan. However, I was astonished and disappointed by how low Texas ranks in the country among the 50 states:

How do we rank in education:
And add to that, our low voter turnout:

What can we do better for the future? Please share your opinions on the following questions.
1) What areas should our law makers focus on?
2) What 3 areas or topics matter the most to you?
3) Why don’t Texans vote?
If Texans don’t vote, they can’t elect representatives that best represent their interests and values.
