PLEASE RESPOND TO CLASSMATE DISCUSSION WHETHER YOU AGREE OR NOT & A DETAILED WHY: I chose the second option to discuss in this week’s discussion topic. I worked with a company similar to MMG that experienced fast growth in the company. I was brought on board to assist with their transition into the Azure cloud space. One of the key factors to migrating to the cloud was redundancy and expansion. The price point to move to cloud was and is still expensive but you no longer have to worry about technical refreshes every 3-5 years. The company did not own enough datacenter space to continue growth with their server farm and moving into Azure allowed them to continue growth along with having a disaster recovery plan. Because the cloud spans across the world, the company was able to migrate pieces of the datacenters to other parts of the world for OCONUS operations.

In my opinion, it is important to have on premise and off premise datacenters due to possible connectivity issues and having all your eggs in one basket. A good 60/40 split of services seems to work well.
