Also, (2) many times the victim does not want to press charges either because he or she is afraid, or the abuser is the breadwinner of the family. Lastly, (3) many times the abuser gets a slap on the wrist when it comes to punishment as the courts can be inconsistent with sentences.

The topic selection and explanation are important parts of your paper because, in this exercise, you are laying the foundation upon which your paper will be built.
