You may choose one of the following for your art project this week.

1. Take a picture of your hand or that of a friend, with the hand resting flat on a plain surface. Print the image, or take it into a digital program that allows you to draw on the image. Mark on the image of the hand at least two golden sections that construct the hand.

2. Follow the steps of creating a golden section shown in your lecture. Begin with a square. From the bottom center of the square measure the distance to the top right-hand corner. Measure this distance from the center of the bottom square outward along a line extending along the bottom of the square. Use this mark as the side of a vertical line that will be attached at the bottom and top to the square. You now have a golden section. Now create a golden section inside your new rectangle by drawing a square inside it. Now you have a second golden section. Continue this process as far as the original size of your first square allows. Now connect the golden sections to form the spiral of a shell.

3. Choose a piece of art and print it or use a digital drawing program, and mark on the image the composition lines that divide the picture like the images in your lecture of Vincent van Gogh and Durer. It is fair to search the internet under composition in art to find examples. But then find an image and do this on your own. It will be more educational and interesting.
