When Lightner Witmer originally defined clinical psychology, he talked about it as a discipline with similarities to medicine, education, and sociology. He did not even mention psychotherapy. Yet that is a main focus today.

Chapter 1 is about the intriguing beginnings and definition of the field of clinical psychology. You will also study the education and training in clinical psychology, where clinical psychologists work and what they do, and how they differ from other mental health professionals.
Chapters 2 and 11 cover the interesting origin and evolution of the practice of psychotherapy and Chapter 15 introduces you to cognitive psychotherapy as preparation for your first Learning Activity.
