clinical field experience 1

For the purpose of this assignment, the setting is high school ESY, (extended school year). The field experience was completed in July 2019, during summer school. You will create the field experience/make it up. Spend 10 hours in two settings (approximately 5 hours each) with students with ASD:

  • One setting should be an inclusion classroom and one should be a self-contained or resource classroom.
  • Obtain parental permission to view an evaluation and IEP for one student with ASD. If possible, attend the IEP meeting for the student chosen. If not possible, consult with two members of the IEP team to discuss the key elements of the IEP.

Ask the team members the following questions or reflect on the following questions after attending the IEP meeting:

  1. Who attended the IEP meeting? If an advocate was involved, describe the role of the advocate and experiences during the IEP meeting.
  2. Was this an annual IEP or an IEP review?
  3. What specific needs did the student have?
  4. How were those needs addressed in the present level of performance?
  5. How were those needs addressed in the goals?
  6. How were those needs addressed in the services section of the IEP?
  7. What progress have you seen and what do you expect in the future?
  8. What do you see as the student’s strengths and how are you building on those?
  9. Was the student present or involved in the IEP development? Why or why not?

In 500-750-words, summarize your interview findings.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
