DISCUSSION 1: Original Post: In Chapter 3, Pioneering Organizations, Davis talks about dealing with conflict in organizations where it is important to value individualists in the process to bring together ideas to create convergent solutions. From your reading and the lecture, what could you do as a leader to motivate a group to higher performance, where there are individuals with strong opinions and there is strong disagreement about what needs to be done to solve a problem?

Scenario: You are the leader of a team of 5 engineering professionals. Your team has 3 experienced engineers, one those has been with the company for 10 years and is highly vocal with his opinions. Two of the members of the team are new with new degrees but one of the these new professionals, has advanced training in metallurgy that none of the other members of the team have. However, he communicates in an arrogant manner and has been dubbed a “know it all” that others dislike. A new metal building material has been found to be insufficient to meet a bridge design and the team is arguing about what to do to solve the problem. How would you handle this?
