Analyze a case using the six steps of the Normative methodology. Once this analysis is complete and you are to the point of making a recommendation or suggesting a solution, please outline the steps you’ve taken to get there.In other words, outline each of the six steps in regards to your chosen case.Your outline will be structured like the one below.Be sure to provide enough detail to create solid support for each of the major areas.
NORMATIVE CASE METHOD
Step One:COMPREHEND/SUMMARIZE CASE SITUATION
*speed read the case
*read case carefully, taking notes and underlining important facts
*provide a one paragraph summary of the case
Step Two:DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AREAS
*identify problem areas
*list facts by problem areas from notes and a rereading of the case
*use evidence from the case to diagnose each problem area in turn
Step Three: STATE PROBLEM
*state the major (overall) problem of the case
*state the problem in one sentence
*relate the problem to problem areas in Step Two
Step Four:GENERATE ALTERNATIVES
*list solutions to the major problems
*be specific (give the who, what, when, where, why and how of each solution)
Step Five:EVALUATE EACH ALTERNATIVE AND SELECT
THE BEST ONE
*list pros and cons for each alternative
*carefully weigh pros and cons of each alternative and choose the best one

Step Six:DEFEND IMPLEMENTATION
*list questions about the workability of your chosen solution
*develop a defense (or answer) to each question
