This is a discussion to help you navigate the two handouts on critical reading and logic, as well as the making commitments exercise.

The logic handout is broken in to three parts. The first two describe the logical techniques of induction & deduction, and the third discusses logical fallacies. You only needed to read the first two parts (if you read up on logical fallacies last week, as you should have).

This is also the place to ask questions about the making commitments exercise. Because you will pick which two essays to analyze (everybody must analyze two), and your papers on those essays will be due the week we discuss those essays, you are essentially picking your due dates. Additionally, students going for an A or a B must choose when to have one or two shorter papers due, where you explain and give examples of concepts from the first part of the text.

In this paper, you will use what you learn from the handout to examine and analyze some of your own personal interactions for signs of logical fallacies.
