Read the handouts on Appeals and Logical Fallacies and write responses to the following:

• What passages do you find the most compelling/thought provoking in these?
• What rhetorical appeals do you think are most effective on you as a reader?
• What details in language gives you an indication of the writer’s perspective?
• Finally, write a claim that is rooted in logos; then make that same claim appealing to ethos, then pathos.

When answering these, think about using full paragraphs, and quoting passages, that help support your explanations, in MLA format.

The Reader Response will be graded by a simple rubric you can see here, and must be done by the time we review the piece in class. Consider how you might use the Reader Responses to advance your work on the papers we’re working on.
