The major threats in the world today have been through cybersecurity threats. In order to protect the public and private sectors from any attacks the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has set up a voluntary assessment that is of no cost to the customer to evaluate operational resilience from their cybersecurity capabilities. This is extremely important to Fortune 500 companies because every once in a while these companies are in the media for hacks and personal information being stolen, but with this review process it could help to figure out where there might be gaps and how to fix them. I believe that the biggest programmatic issue that an industry might face while using this review program could be the amount of cyber risk they may find out their company has and it getting out to the public. It is very important for all companies and industries to ensure that their information is kept private and if by some chance they have a review done and the results get leaked than it could be devastating to their brand. Some corporations may not voluntarily jump on the band wagon for these reviews because they may be liable for any issues found.

Another issue that might arise is finding out that every plan and policy in place may not work to standard and have to change everything they ever thought worked. Management from top down is key to this process. Ensuring that all organizations have people who work well in their field such as IT policy and procedures to Business operations is what makes these reviews important and risky as well. Some challenges faced by implementing a cyber resilience program may be getting everyone on board without too much distrust that their systems may be broken. The other is publicity, is it gets out that a huge corporate company is using this review system people may not think that their information is secure and it could lead to a bad name instead of it being something looked at as good and helping their business rise above the risks and threats. Being able to understand the organizations entire cybersecurity system is important because finding risks are easier that way instead of waiting for a threat to attack to make changes. The good thing about using the Cyber Resilience Review (CRR) by the DHS is that it can be requested at any time and any findings are kept to that organization and not shared publicly. There are no incentives to using this review process for cybersecurity. It is better taken if an industry gets something in return if the findings could be bad for them publicly. There has been many high profile instances of cyber espionage and using this CRR is one way to ensure that nothing like that can slip through a corporation. The DHS can help protect against networks being attacked and this is their way to improve the process. There are many policies and acts in place to ensure that cybersecurity is implemented but this is one way that businesses can ensure that they are bridging the gaps before they fall victim to any real issues and be resilient if they have any issues.
