Review a number of the Our Town clips, and then choose a couple of scenes from different productions of the play. In our postings, make sure to tell us what scene is being performed, by whom, and in what production. Tell us some the striking differences between two productions. How have the directors blocked differently? Do the scenes look similar but have a different effect? Why and how? How do actors bring the characters to life differently from one another (i.e,, how is Paul Newman different from Hal Holbrook?) What kind of stage business is employed to keep the actors from simply standing on stage and reciting their lines? In other words, what do they do with movement to make the action seem real and natural?
