I have decided to use a study that measures the perceptions of online learning for minority students.
Define whether the study you found is a qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods design study.
This study utilizes a qualitative research method. Qualitative research is a process of naturalistic inquiry that seeks in-depth understanding of social phenomena within their natural setting (What Is Qualitative Research?).
Identify the hypotheses or research questions (qualitative studies only include research questions).
By this study being qualitative research-based study that wanted to determine if minority students are satisfied with online education. There are 5 questions that are under consideration.
Briefly define the independent and dependent variables in measurable terms.
The variables used to measure this study are defined as interactions. There are 3 types of interactions:
1.Learner-instructor interactions that measures the communication between the student and the instructor. This will involve the encouragement, guidance, and any type of support the student needs(Kuo,2016).
3.Learner-content interactions measures how the student engages with the subject content(Kuo,2016).
Discuss how the data was collected and provide a brief review of the findings/results.
The data was collected by doing online surveys that are randomly distributed to students. They are explained the process and why the study is being conducted. There were 199 surveys delivered with 167 minority students completing the survey that equated to a return rate of 84%. When the test group was asked the 5 questions, the 167 respondents answers lead to the determination that minority online students find this type of education satisfying. All 5 questions answered were above the mean of 3 and averaged 4.28 on a scale of 1-5 (Kuo,2016).
Describe how the research process can apply to other situations and whether you think the research process is useful for all research problems.
This process will work well when the researcher is investigating a limited pool of data. This type of research is tedious and will not work will with a large amount of data to collect and measure and will not be a good type to use in other studies.
